RT-PIS

RT-PIS (Real Time Passenger Information System) enables incident controllers and other authorised users to view the last known location of each RT-PIS enabled train on a map and send RVAR compliant or plain text messages to passengers. Controllers schedule messages using a simple and intuitive wizard, which is highly flexible but also designed to allow emergency messages to be created in less than 30 seconds, a key business requirement.

RT-PIS was designed and developed by AtkinsRéalis (Formerly Interfleet) as a proof of concept in late 2013, working closely with Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR), Southern Railway at the time, and Bombardier. It entered operational service with Southern Railway in early 2014.
